JFC Global is on the hunt for a Controls Project Technician to join our clients team on a direct hire basis! This is located is York, PA.
+Analyzes pre-engineered customer project documents such as Bills of Materials,
Control Panel, Arrangement Drawings and Schematics for the purpose of doing a take-
off for estimating costs. Analysis may include developing lists of obvious errors and
omissions and other clarifications to be discussed directly with the customer.
+Research of component solutions when only descriptions are provided.
+Input component and labor take-off information into Timberline Estimating Software.
+Solicit price quotations from company approved (QA) vendors.
+Reviews estimates with General Manager, Sales Manager and/or President.
+Collaborates with Project Manager, Project Engineers or GM on Design-Build
proposals. Duties may include sizing of enclosures, BTU heat gain calculations for any
required air-conditioning, selection of motor control and PLC hardware. Advises on
AutoCAD efforts estimated to do the project.
+Writes proposal letters to clients. (Sometimes in collaboration with GM, SM or the

GM (or his designee) to discuss a new customer order for the purpose of returning a PO
Acknowledgment of price and delivery. Following the PO acknowledgement it will
be required to provide the GM with the Project End Sheet for routing to the Accounting
Department for Job Cost tracking. Will be required to complete the Tracking Form on
the inside of the cover of the Project Folder.
+Interfaces with shop personnel/team assigned to assemble, wire, test and crate
control panel assemblies. ( i.e. kick-off meeting, pull materials from supply shelf,
answer questions, approve component layouts prior to fastening and handles any
errors, omissions or warranty issues.)
+Occasionally may be required to input information for terminal block tags, wire
markers and back-plate label production into the Phoenix Marking System and produce
in conjunction with shop schedules. Note: This is a primary duty of shop personnel.
+Inputs information for engraving operator legend plates and nameplates, etc into the
Universal Laser System and produces in conjunction with shop schedules.
+Purchases materials required for the project in conjunction with GMs manufacturing
schedule. Maintains a project purchase order log (master spreadsheet) Inspects
incoming material for defects.(Note: Inspection duties may be pre-arranged to be split
with shop personnel.) Reconcile packing slips and approves payment of vendor invoices.
Complete all credit and debit sheets for component inventory used and/or returned to
company inventory.(Provides to Accounting Department)
+Responsible to over-see quality assurance/testing procedures related to assigned
projects such as power-up testing, continuity testing and over-seeing signature
completions on project QA tracking forms. Will be responsible to visit custom sheet
metal shop suppliers for pre-paint inspection of metal fabrication.
+Determine shipping methods required by customer and prepare or obtain all shipping
documents, including such as bills of lading, NAFTA Forms, Country of Origin documents
and special insurance riders, if warranted.
+Prepare interim or final invoices for customer (requiring internal sign-offs of Controller
and General Manager.)
+Provides enclosure and ancillary equipment arrangement drawings using AutoCAD.
Includes layouts of operator devices, internal layouts of back-plates and side plates,
legend plate and nameplate details and safety labels.
+Provides Original circuit design on design-build projects of control panel power
distribution and control circuits using AutoCAD. Selection of proper protective devices to
meet short circuit requirements. Drafting of PLC I/O sheets. Develops enclosure
bonding and system ground details. Work is performed in collaboration with a Project
Manager, Project Engineer or GM.
+Participates in scheduled production meetings with GM to coordinate availability of
drawings and materials required to start and complete a project in the shop.
+Provides assistance with in-house testing of completed control panels such as I/O
checks and simulation of application sequences and functionality under the direction of
Project Engineers or the GM.
+Travels to customer sites for plant equipment observations, for milestone coordination
meetings, assisting with equipment start-ups and testing or over-seeing an installation.
Duties may include auditing as-built conditions of existing equipment or machinery for
the purpose of re-location, replacing or upgrading.
+ Provides support on projects requiring production line construction
+ Assists Project Engineers with the development and/or testing of plc software, HMI
screens, VFD configurations, machine vision-rejection systems and other automation
+ Specific assigned Project duties are reviewed and coordinated with a Project Manager
and/or with the General Manager.
Education and/or Experience:
Associates degree (AA or AS.) from 2-year College or technical school + 5 years or
more of related control systems technology experience; or one to two years related
experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience should include ability to read and/or develop wiring schematics. Familiarity
with the latest edition of the NEC, NFPA 70E, UL508a, UL698a and UL 1203 are
essential documents and standards to know, acquire and maintain to be successful in
