‘Tis the season to be merry or bah humbug?

Happiness Index: Only 1 In 3 Americans Are Very Happy, According To Harris Poll

The U.S. economy may be recovering, but Americans aren’t getting any happier: Only one in three Americans say they’re very happy, according to a recent Harris Poll.

We shouldn’t need a “spectacular” holiday to be in a “spectacularly” good mood.  It’s beneficial to be merry year round, not just in December.

Being happy allows you to become part of something larger than yourself; something that will have impact and make a difference. When you are happy, you can lift the mood of others. They in turn pass this happiness on, and it keeps going around like a butterfly effect. This is probably why the “holiday season” is so contagious – people are in higher spirits.

You are the master of your mood and have freedom to choose your own outcomes.    Make everyday open season to be merry.  Greek philosopher Aristotle once said, “We are what we repeatedly do.” Happiness then is not an act but a habit.

Whether it is paying compliments to others or committing to smile often; choose to be merry 365 days a year. Discover for yourself its effect on your success and happiness in 2015.
